Editing Photos: Development

Image
Towards the bottom of the picture someone's leg got caught in the frame. So to fix that I used the spot healing brush tool, made the size a little big and essentially erased until the area was blended into the rest of the picture. I also increased the lighting using the exposure tool under the filter tab.  In this picture I just increased the lighting a little same as in the first picture. I also used Photoshop to edit this picture. In photoshop I tilted the model's face to the right a little because her head was slightly tiled left. I did this to make things more balanced. Lastly, for this picture I made the model's smile a little bigger to appeal to a younger audience and make the cover oage a little more fun and vibrant

Post Development: Magazines

Throughout the process of creating this magazine I used lots of background knowledge about the topic being how experienced and familiar I am with it. I've played basketball my entire life and what I'm describing throughout the magazine is the exact position I'm in today. From finding articles online with very successful women's basketball players to quote, to asking my peers what they're journey has been like, I've created an in-depth magazine on what it takes to make it as a girls' basketball player. I used different application such as InDesign, although navigating through the app was challenging at first given how inexperienced I was, eventually I figured out how to utilize it. I also used the Audience Reasearch survey, on top of some research I did myself when it comes to choosing the masthead. I attempted to find the most sporty, teenage-like font I could find to appeal to my audience. I chose these images. given the audience is targeted toward teenage...

Masthead: This was one of the 5 colors selected in the Audience Research Survey Assignment done earlier in the year. This color on top of the lime green background blends well Typography (Font Used for all writing): The font used for "The Grind" was one I chose to make the sub-heading pop and to bring attention to it. The same was done for the "Nothing But Net" Heading Photography on the layout (Do the images make sense, analyze the angle of the shot) Codes and Conventions: Page Numbered at the bottom left, magazine cover name at bottom right, quotes, pictures and a  flash. Color Scheme: After the Audience Reasearch Survey  Article: Throughout the article the text goes into detail about what it takes to achieve the goal of many readers of the magazine/ the audience. This includes hard work, overcoming adversity and sacrifices. It also gives examples to women that came before that are successful in their craft.

WNBA superstar Candace Parker who currently plays for the Las Vegas Aces goes into detail about how important it is to set goals/ have dreams, but to also work at them from an extremely young age. “Today I know that there is still work to be done, but along the way my I am achieving my dreams” Parker stated in an interview with The Huffington Post “From my first dunk at 14 years old to my second NCAA Championship at the University of Tennessee, my intense training with my dad was always to credit”. The climb to the top of the food chain isn’t an easy one and those whose dream is to play professional basketball know it’s a long journey to get there. A journey that requires a lot of hard work, sacrifices and belief in yourself and your dreams.  With there only being 349 division one teams with a total of 5,588 players, student athletes only have a 2% chance to advance to the play on the D1 college level. So, it must be known that although chances are small, those who want it a...

Photoshoot Planning

 1.  What is the topic of my 300-word article? The topic of my article is going to be mainly focused on how woman's basketball is on the rise and looking further into the process and journey of a high school teenage girl basketball player who dreams on going to college to play at the next level. It will also highlight different women's basketball players who have been a part of the process of women's basketball becoming more popular 2.  How can I illustrate that text in images? In other words, what images would be suitable as illustrations for that text? What should those images depict? Some images that would be suitable to fit that text would be relevant girls high school basketball players who plan on playing in college and/or professionally 3. Who is going to be the model? N/A 4.  What mise en scene am I going to use for the photo shoot? Where am I going to take these photos (LOCATION)? What costumes am I going to use?  In other words...
